Every month we run a link check across the nearly 2,000 tools and websites listed on this site. It opens each one's website, follows the redirects and reads what comes back. That check, plus two audits by hand since September, has left us with 71 listings whose product is gone.
Gone means one of three things. The company shut the product down. The domain lapsed and now shows a parking page, a casino or somebody else's startup. Or the site still loads but sells a different product from the one we listed. We do not delete these pages: each one stays up with a red Discontinued label where the Try button used to be, and the full set lives on our Graveyard page, so anyone searching for a tool they used last year gets an answer instead of a dead link.
Here is the whole graveyard, sorted by category, with what each tool did, what happened to it, and a live replacement from our directory. Halloween felt like the right week to publish it.

Video
The biggest category in the graveyard, and it holds the biggest name.

What the graveyard tells us
Domains die quietly. More than twenty of these tools did not announce anything. The site simply stopped answering, or the domain lapsed and was picked up by a parking company, a casino or an unrelated startup. Analogenie and Melodisco are both casino sites now. If a tool you use suddenly starts advertising slot machines, your data is not coming back.
A lab's experiment is not a product. Audiobox, Genie, Sora, Spark and Firebase Studio were all run by companies with more money than anyone else on this list. Each was an experiment that was folded into something else or dropped. When the page says Labs, Research or Preview, plan for it to end.
Acquisitions end products. PlayAI went to Meta, Continue to Cursor, Symbl to Invoca, Lalaland to Browzwear, MealByMeal to a training company. The team gets a new home; the thing you signed up for usually does not.
Pivots are the ones a link check misses. Prezo, Augment, Yozo, Careered, Sitebrew and Versy still return a healthy page. It is just a different business. That is why we read the page title and description on every check, and still audit by hand twice a year.
How to avoid being the last user
- Export on a schedule. Anything you would miss, download it monthly. Several of these gave a few weeks' notice; many gave none.
- Prefer tools with a free or open-source twin. A local or self-hosted option cannot be shut down under you. Our Self-Hosted Apps list has ten of them, every one scanned for malware.
- Be wary of early-access shells. A sign-up form with example queries and no product behind it is a sign-up form, not a tool.
- Check the label before you commit. Every listing on this site shows a red Discontinued mark the moment a product dies, and the Graveyard page keeps the full list.
Browse what is still alive, and still free, in our free AI tools directory, and see this month's additions on the New page.
FAQ
How do you decide a tool is dead?
A monthly script opens every listed website and records the status, the final URL after redirects and the page title. A 403 or 429 is a bot block, not a death, so those are ignored. Anything else that fails is rechecked by hand a few days later, along with the Wayback Machine and the app stores, before it is marked Discontinued.
Why keep the pages up at all?
Because people still search for these tools by name. FalcoCut alone had hundreds of searches last month. A page that says what happened and what to use instead is more useful than a 404, and it keeps the links other sites made to us working.
Can a tool leave the graveyard?
Yes. If a product comes back, the label comes off and the Try button returns. The check runs every month, so a revival is caught within weeks.
