What is Chrome Music Lab?
Chrome Music Lab is a set of small music experiments from Google Creative Lab. Each one teaches an idea through play: Song Maker lets you build a tune on a grid, Kandinsky turns doodles into sound, Rhythm has little characters drumming your pattern, and others let you see sound waves, play with harmonics, arpeggios, chords and a spectrogram of your own voice.
It is used heavily in classrooms because there is nothing to install and nothing to log in to. Song Maker in particular blew up on TikTok, where people recreate famous songs note by note on the grid and share the link. Much of the code is open source on GitHub, and the experiments run on standard web tech like the Web Audio API and Tone.js, so they work in most modern browsers on laptops, tablets and phones.
