What is TextFX?
TextFX is a set of ten AI writing tools that Google built with Grammy-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco, launched in 2023 through Google Lab Sessions. Lupe is known for bending language in his lyrics, and each tool turns one of his techniques into a prompt for Google's language model, which was PaLM 2 at launch.
The tools have names like Simile, Explode, Unexpect, Chain, POV, Alliteration, Acronym, Fuse, Scene and Unfold. Type in a word or phrase and you get back ten or so ideas: similes for coffee, a word broken into sound-alike phrases, a chain of related ideas, or the same topic from different points of view. It is meant as a spark for rappers, poets and writers rather than a ghostwriter, and it still works today.
What You Can Do
- Make similes for any thing or idea
- Explode a word into similar-sounding phrases
- Build acronyms and alliteration around a topic
- Chain related ideas or see a topic from different points of view
- Fuse two ideas and unfold new phrases from a word
