What is The Higher Lower Game?
The Higher Lower Game shows you two search terms side by side, along with how many times the first one is searched on Google each month. Your job is to guess whether the second one gets searched more or less. Get it right and the next term slides in. Get it wrong and your streak ends. The pairings are the fun part, since you end up weighing things like a celebrity against a sandwich.
It was made by Manchester agency Code Computerlove, and the search numbers come from global monthly searches. YouTubers including PewDiePie played it on camera, and by 2017 it had passed half a billion plays according to The Drum. Beyond the classic mode there is a timed mode and a multiplayer elimination mode, so it works as well at a party as it does on a coffee break.
What You Can Do
- Classic mode: keep your streak going as long as you can
- Beat The Clock: race a timer while you guess
- Elimination mode to play against other people
