What is Freerice?
Freerice is a multiple-choice trivia game with a purpose. Every question you answer correctly donates 10 grains of rice to the UN World Food Programme (WFP), paid for by sponsors and advertisers, and a counter shows your rice piling up as you play.
John Breen launched it on October 7, 2007 as a vocabulary game. It went viral fast: it passed one billion grains just 32 days after launch and had generated 21 billion grains by March 2008, according to UN News. Breen donated the site to WFP in 2009, and it now covers many subjects beyond vocabulary. Questions adjust to your level as you play.
