What is Poem Postcards?
Poem Postcards is a Google Arts & Culture experiment that turns famous paintings into personal notes. You pick an artwork from the Google Arts & Culture collection, choose a type of poem, and Google AI writes a short poem inspired by the piece. The result is laid out as a digital postcard you can send to a friend.
It launched in August 2023 alongside a redesign of the Arts & Culture app and was powered by Google's PaLM 2 model. Poem styles include haiku, free verse, sonnet, acrostic, villanelle, limerick, ode, elegy and ballad. There is also an optional field to aim the poem at someone who loves a particular thing, and a rewrite button if the first poem does not land.
