What is Scroobly?
Scroobly is a doodle animator made by Google Partner Innovation and bit.studio, launched in December 2020 and listed on Experiments with Google. You draw a simple character, or start from one of the ready-made doodles, and then turn on your camera. Your doodle starts moving with you.
It works using TensorFlow.js with the Facemesh and PoseNet machine learning models, which track your face and body and map your movements onto the drawing live. Nod and the doodle nods, wave and it waves. There is no design or coding knowledge needed, which is the whole idea: anyone can feel like an animator for a few minutes. Everything runs in the browser.
