What is Turing Test Live?
Turing Test Live is an online version of Alan Turing's 1950 imitation game. As the interrogator, you chat with two witnesses at the same time. One is a real person, the other is an AI language model, and at the end of the round you vote on which is human. Then the true identities are revealed.
It is run by Cameron Jones at UC San Diego as part of real research. Games played on the site fed the study by Jones and Benjamin Bergen that made headlines in 2025: when told to adopt a humanlike persona, GPT-4.5 was picked as the human 73% of the time, more often than the real people.
