What is This Rental Does Not Exist?
This Rental Does Not Exist shows what looks like a normal holiday rental listing: a title, room photos, a host with a profile picture, and a description of the place. None of it is real. The bedrooms and the host's face were made by an image AI, and the text was written by a language model.
Christopher Schmidt, a software engineer, built it in February 2019 after seeing Phillip Wang's This Person Does Not Exist. The images come from Nvidia's StyleGAN models, one trained on faces and one on bedrooms, and the text model was trained on real Airbnb listings. A new listing is made every few seconds. Half the fun is spotting the weird details, like melting furniture or descriptions that drift into nonsense.
