What is Guitoro?
Guitoro is a free online virtual guitar. You play it with your computer keyboard, with your left hand holding chords on the letter keys and your right hand strumming, or by swiping the strings with your finger on a phone or tablet. Every note is a recording of a real instrument.
You can choose a steel-string acoustic, a classical guitar, an electric guitar or a four-string bass. Each song plays its best-known part close to the original recording, and you can slow it down to 20% to see which strings each strum hits, how the pick moves and where the fingers go. Then it waits for you at every chord change while you play it yourself.
It launched on Hacker News in October 2026 and builds on the idea of the Google guitar doodle, with six real strings, 15 chords in every key and dozens of songs, plus free chord tools and a tuner.
