What is Bastardica?
Bastardica calls itself a type foundry for bastard web fonts. You pick a base font, such as Times New Roman, and a mix-in font, then choose how often the mix-in replaces a letter. The result is a font like "Times New Bastard", which looks normal at a glance until you notice every seventh letter is Arial.
You can also stretch, squish and jitter letters, stack copies of a font, or load presets like Sneaky Bastard, Impacter, Nervous Sans, Cartoon Papyrus, Royal Ransom Note and Temu Sans. Type your own text to preview it live, upload your own fonts or add Google Fonts, and download the finished font as TTF, OTF or WOFF2. It went viral on Hacker News in September 2026.
