What is ZType?
ZType is a typing shooter made by German developer Dominic Szablewski of PhobosLab. He built it in 2011 for Mozilla's Game On competition, and the name is a nod to the classic arcade shooter R-Type.
Enemy ships float down the screen, each carrying a word. Typing the word locks on and fires at that ship, so your keyboard becomes your weapon. Waves get faster and the words get longer as you go, and you score more the fewer mistakes you make. It is a fun way to practise touch typing without it feeling like a lesson.
