What is ProWritingAid?
ProWritingAid is an AI grammar checker and style editor that gives in-depth reports, line edits and rephrasing for long-form writers. It is made by Orpheus Technology in the UK and has been a popular Grammarly alternative for years, especially among fiction authors.
Where most grammar tools focus on correctness, ProWritingAid goes deeper into style with more than 25 reports covering pacing, repetition, sentence length, dialogue tags and overused words. Newer AI features add line editing, rephrasing, chapter critiques and Story Canvas for planning. It works in Google Docs, Microsoft Word, a desktop editor and the browser, which makes it practical for full manuscripts, blog posts and academic writing.
