What is Photopea?

Photopea is an online photo editor that looks and works a lot like Photoshop, right inside your browser. You get layers, masks, layer styles, smart objects, adjustment layers, channels and paths, plus filters like Curves, Gaussian Blur, Liquify and Puppet Warp. It opens and saves PSD files, so you can pick up a designer's file on any computer without buying or installing anything.

Everything runs locally on your own device, using your CPU and GPU, so files open quickly and never get uploaded. Photopea also reads a long list of other formats, including PNG, JPG, WEBP, SVG, PDF, AI, HEIC, TIFF, Figma files and camera RAW files such as CR2, NEF and ARW. The full editor is free with ads, and an optional Premium pass removes the ads and adds extras.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Photopea free?

Can Photopea open Photoshop PSD files?

Yes. PSD is Photopea's main format and it can both open and save PSD files with layers, masks, layer styles and smart objects, so you can edit a Photoshop file and hand it back without installing Photoshop.
